While I was able to complete all the Old Wives Tales in the previous post, there were a few that I wasn't able to do even though I really wanted to. Here is a breakdown of all my failed Old Wives Tales just in case anyone is curious and/or wants to try these for themselves.
Ramzi Theory
This theory I was most excited about as it can be done the earliest in pregnancy. It is based off a study done by Dr. Saad Ramzi Ismail. It can be done at an ultrasound between 6-8 weeks. You simply ask the technician which side of the uterus the placenta is on. If the placenta is on the left side of the uterus it means a girl and if it is on the right side it means a boy. Supposedly based on the study done on this theory it is in the mid 90s% of being correct. FYI: If you have an abdominal ultrasound done it mirrors so if it looks like its on the left side its really on the right (meaning boy) and if it looks like its on the right its really on the left (meaning girl).
Result: I didn't have my first ultrasound done until I was 11 1/2 weeks so I believe I was too far along. I still asked the technician and my midwife but I didn't get an answer as my placenta was smack in the middle and not to one side or the other. I was so bummed I wasn't able to get a result to compare for this theory.
Cravings
This tale is if you crave sweets during pregnancy it means a girl and if you crave salty foods it means a boy.
Result: I haven't really had many cravings so far in pregnancy. I eat more salty foods then sweets but that's my normal before pregnancy and I haven't been eating any more then usual of it so I don't think it's accurate. I craved cheesy things for about a week (I think cheese is supposed to mean boy) but then I craved fruity things for a few days right after (fruit is supposed to mean girl). Since these cravings have an even mixed result it doesn't give me a clear answer.
Sleeping
This tale is that if you sleep on your right side it means girl and if you sleep on the left side it means boy.
Result: I sleep on both. Usually on my left side at night but my right side during the day. I also go back and forth between both sides when I sleep. I feel like both sides are even so I wasn't able to have a clear result on this tale.
Carrying
This tale is if you carry (your bump is) high it means a girl and if you carry low it means a boy.
Result: I don't have much of a bump right now and I feel like its smack in the middle so I can't tell accurately yet. I even asked a few girlfriends and got mixed answers so decided this one is an inconclusive result as well.
Mood
This tale is if you're more moody/crabby it means a girl and if you're more happy it means a boy.
Result: I am generally a happy person to begin with. Since I've been pregnant I have been a lot more moody/emotional but not more so then I have been happy. I wasn't sure how to really correctly answer this one. I asked Robbie his opinion of this one so I wouldn't be biased by picking one and his answer was the same as mine. So yet again an unclear result.
Dream of Gender
This tale is that whatever gender you dream baby is it will be. However, I just recently read something that says that its supposed to be the opposite of whatever you dream so now I don't know which it is supposed to be lol. I'll go off what I always heard which is whatever gender you dream is what it is supposed to be.
Result: I have been so anxious to have a gender dream just to compare and see it its right or when I we find out. After 17 weeks and no gender dreams I had pretty much given up hope of having a gender dream before we actual found out the gender. However, the night of my 18 week mark I had my first gender dream that baby was a girl. I was so excited to have a dream about gender regardless if it was right or wrong. But yet another twist the very next night I had another gender dream--this time that baby was a boy. So now I have no idea. I'm kinda bummed that it wasn't just one gender to find out if it's right or wrong when we actually find out. Now I can't answer this since I've had dreams of baby being both genders.
