Letters to Lacey Belle: 1 Month

6/6/2017
My little mermaid is 1 month old! She is in good health and got her 1st shot during her 1 month check up. She now weighs 8lbs 15oz and is 22 1/4 inches long. She eats about every 3-4 hours, sleeping in between. She is just starting to outgrow some of her newborn baby clothes and is transitioning into 0-3 month sizes. She likes to sleep on her side and is having more alert time where she's awake for longer periods. She does great sleeping during the day but often gets fussy and fights sleep at nighttime (we are working on getting her nights and days switched around). She loves cuddling with mommy, her paci and getting baths.

Dear Lacey Belle,

I can't believe you are 1 month old already! It seems like just yesterday that you were born. There have many some stressful and exhausting moments mostly due to lack of sleep and nursing on demand but I wouldn't trade any of it for the world. You are growing and becoming more active and alert everyday. You have brought so much joy into mine and your daddy's lives already and we are so excited to watch you grow. While you look like your own little person, the general consensus is that you look more like daddy then me currently. You have big blue eyes and we are hoping they stay blue as you get older (just like daddy's). Your big fur sisters Stralia & Trixie love you and you seem to enjoy their company too. I am so thankful we had both pups my whole pregnancy with you because their barking, playing and making noises doesn't even phase you one bit. You sleep right through it. I have been surprised with the fact that you love bath time and getting your diaper changed. The only time you fuss over it is if you're too cold. Overall, you are a very happy baby and have been easy to adjust to a new routine with. You love to sleep in your little bassinet seat with the vibration on during the day. You seem to prefer me over daddy most of the time but I tell him its only because I feed you. You'll have to learn to play with him more so that he feels included. You have been to the beach a couple times and handled it like a champ. You also enjoy being in the baby carrier attached to mommy's tummy. We finally broke out your paci at about 2 or 3 weeks old because you were becoming extra fussy at night and I realized you didn't want to be eating but did want to be sucking on something so the paci helped that a lot. Although I have complained to daddy about you wanting to sleep in bed with me instead of in the pack n play--I've loved snuggling you close as we both fall asleep every night. This first month has passed by so quickly and I know it's just going to seem to go by faster and faster--so I am determined to document each milestone and soak up each moment with you. I plan to write you a new letter each month to keep track of your new adventures and then probably yearly after that. I hope that one day you will like to look back on these monthly letters to see how much you changed and grew. I feel so incredibly blessed to be your mommy and I love you more then I ever thought possible, little one. Happy 1 month of life!

Love,
Mommy
