Lacey Belle is 6 months old!! She is exactly 15lbs and rolling over regularly now. She is eating veggies everyday and cauliflower seems to be her favorite so far. She just graduated to size 3 diapers and is still in 3-6 month clothes. She's doing good about napping in her crib now (when she actually naps) but is back to not sleeping well at night. She dislikes burping and loves eating her veggies, playing with her feet, and talking/singing.
Dearest Lacey Belle,
Wow, where has the time gone?! I can't believe it's your half birthday already! Just the other day I realized it had been exactly a year since we announced my pregnancy with you--how can you already be 6 months old?! You are growing and changing so much everyday. While some days are still a struggle and my patience is tried--you are such an absolute joy! You are now napping good in your crib and even learning to put yourself to sleep some. You play and often enjoy your alone time in your crib and I am so happy to see you are now comfortable with it. While you have begun taking a regular morning nap of 2 or 3 hours, you are not sleeping well at night anymore. This has been a bug struggle for me again, especially lately. I feel like we are right back where we were a couple months ago when you'd wake often at night and I feel exhausted constantly. You have been waking up pretty much every two hours all night long and we're still trying to figure out what the issue is. At first we thought maybe it was tummy/gas issues again because you have started eating veggies but its been a little while and you still wake often. I think maybe it might be due to teething soreness so we'll see. And speaking of veggies - you have gotten to eat a good variety so far (broccoli, green beans and cauliflower) and cauliflower seems to be your favorite so far. We'll be starting on fruits next after getting through all the veggies I have made for you. I make all the baby food at home because I feel like it's healthier because I know exactly what it is and it helps us save money on buying baby food too. I enjoy making the food for you at home and you enjoy too. Sometimes I even mix the veggies with your rice cereal and you have liked everything you've tried so far. This month we also went on our first family vacation to Dollywood in Tennessee. It rained the whole first day but we were able to still see a lot and there were no crowds. The second day was nicer because it was sunny and you were awake for most of it so we got plenty of photos. You did so well on the long car rides and long days of being outside. I was a little worried of how you would do beforehand but you surprised me and we all had a great time! We're already planning to go again when you're a little older and can enjoy it more. Another first this month was mommy and daddy's first night alone since you were born. We had a date night for daddy's work military ball and auntie Jessica baby sat you. It was your first night without mommy and you didn't handle it very well. You cried pretty much the whole time until you wore yourself out and finally crashed. You didn't sleep long and were awake again when we got home. Auntie Jessica couldn't even get you to eat with your bottle (which you normally love). I was afraid it would be hard for you especially since nighttime is when you're usually the fussiest and most clingy to mommy. You were so happy to see me when we got home and you ate a lot too! I think it's safe to say any more date outings will have to be during the day and not night for a little while. We celebrated your first Halloween with a family theme for costumes. You were Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz; your puppy Ruffy was Toto; Stralia was the Scarecrow; Trixie was the Tinman; daddy was the Lion; and mommy was Glinda the Good Witch. I was trying to decide what you should be for your first Halloween and once we got Ruffy I had the great idea for you to be Dorothy cuz Ruffy could be ToTo and we already had your ruby slippers. Then we decided to have everyone in the family be a character so we had most of them covered. It was fun to do a theme all together, usually we're all something different. I made your little costume and it came out perfectly! All in all this month was full of a lot of new and exciting firsts for you. It is so fun seeing you interacting so much more. You always want to be a part of everything going on. You smile and laugh often which is so adorable! You are rolling all around (both directions) constantly now so I feel its not much longer before you're crawling and officially on the move. According to your Dr you are right on track with your growth and measurements and they are so happy you are growing perfectly. You are a joy and quickly becoming my little buddy. I can't wait to continue to watch you as you grow and see your little personality coming out! I love you to the moon and back, little love! Happy 6 months of life my little princess!
Love,
Mommy
