Letters to Lacey Belle: 12 Months

5/6/2018
Lacey Belle is 12 months old!! I can't believe my baby is 1 already! Where did the time go?! She just hit the 17lb mark and is 29 inches tall. She has 5 teeth and is just starting on whole milk. She is sleeping about 10-12 hours at nighttime and seems to be transitioning from 2 naps to 1 during the day. She dislikes keeping her socks on and loves drinking from her sippy cup, brushing her teeth & her baby doll.

Dearest Lacey Belle,

Wow I don't even know where to begin this month! I cannot believe you are 1 year old! This past year has seemed to fly by. You are growing so fast. I want to cherish each and every moment. You are doing great with your eating and sleeping. You are eating 3 regular meals and LOVE to eat! The only time you really throw a fit or get angry is when you are impatient for food. You definitely have real hangry (hungry+angry) moments. I have just started you on whole milk and you seem to really enjoy that too. You are also sleeping amazingly! You sleep a consistent 10-12 hours every night which is such a blessing. You are also beginning to transition from 2 naps to 1 nap during the day. You love to crawl around exploring things and playing with all your toys. Your favorite toys are all your little Disney princess figurines, your My Little Pony dolls & your blocks. I got you a little baby doll on a trip to Walmart and you absolutely love her! You always want to bring her with you when you get up in the morning and she sleeps in your crib at night too. The first day you wouldn't let her go and fell asleep gripping onto her leg. It is so cute to watch you play with your doll and you are so sweet with her. You love to chew on everything and have really started enjoying your frozen teething toys ("icey's"). You love riding around in your stroller sitting in the seat and not your car seat. You seem to be more toddler-like everyday and I am constantly amazed at how much you seem to be growing and looking more and more like a little girl instead of a baby. You still have your adorable chubby cheeks but are still such a little peanut. You had your 1 year Dr check up and have finally hit the 17lb mark (which is the 3rd percentile for your age). You have continued to slowly start growing from your 9 month check up but you are still so small. I only just started transitioning you into 9-12 months clothes but a lot of your 6-9 months clothes still fit. I love that you are so tiny and believe its a blessing from God that you are especially while I'm going through pregnancy #2--I feel like you being small is such a huge help to reduce my aches and pains. You still don't seem to be interested in walking yet but you are a pro at crawling and standing up. You are 29 inches tall and seem to get taller everyday. You had to get 4 shots and your finger pricked at your Dr check up. Due to your iron levels being a little low you are now on a vitamin and you love it. You get so excited to eat it every morning. This month we also conquered your 1st fever. It lasted 2 days and you didn't eat or sleep well during that time. You were also more clingy to mommy. I thought it was just teething pain but we discovered after the fact due to the fact that you got a rash and we had to go to the Dr that it was actually a little virus. Thankfully it passed quickly and you've been fine since. We were lucky to make it to almost 1 year without you getting sick. I'm hoping you get your immune system from me. You still only have 5 teeth but seem to be chewing on things often so I wouldn't be surprised if some more start coming in soon. Our other big news this month is that we found out that you are getting a little brother in September. I'm so anxious/curious to see how you'll do with a baby boy around. I'm sure you'll do great and I promise to make sure we still have our special girl time together. This past year has been so happy/tiring/crazy/fast and full of beautiful/cheerful/hectic/stressful moments. I cherish all of the time we've spent together and love the little girl you are growing into! Despite all the tears and exhaustion there has been way more laughter and joy. I am so thankful to be your mommy! I am so blessed to have you as my daughter, my first born, my little princess! You are the light to my life and I love every single minute and every little moment we spend together! I can't wait to see the places you'll go, the things you'll do, and what the future has in store for us this next year and all the years to come! Happy 12 months of life my little cheerful beauty!

Love,
Mommy
