Weston is 8 months old! He weighs 18.2 lbs, is in size 3 diapers, and is currently fighting his first cold. He is eating ALOT (almost every two hours), sleeping rarely and wanting to be involved with everything! He can give kisses and say "mama" & "dada" (with mama being his 1st word). Just this past week he mastered positioning himself from laying down to sitting up on his own, started crawling (finally), and tried to pull up too! He loves: being on the move, musical toys & clapping his hands. He dislikes: having his nose wiped & food with chunks in it.
Dearest Weston,
You are now 8 months old and to be completely honest this has been the hardest month yet. You have been so fussy which is so out of the ordinary for you--normally you are the happiest little guy full of smiles. You have been waking 4+ times a night and eating around the clock at pretty much every two hours these days. I feel drained and exhausted every day. I remember going through a huge sleep regression and phase like this with Lacey Belle too so I know it will pass but it is so tiring while in the middle of it. I know you have been going through a lot for your little self too. Between all your baby milestones (eating baby food, sitting up, on the verge of crawling, etc) you are also teething, and I believe going thru a growth spurt too. You have major separation anxiety lately, hate being "alone" (aka whenever you can't see me), hardly sleep (day or night), and are also currently fighting your first sickness (a cold). I hate seeing you sick! You have a little cough and a constant runny nose. I'm doing my best to try and get you on a solid schedule with naps and bedtime routines--I even started working on sleep training you--but it had to be put on hold since you haven't been feeling well. Once you are better again I will be taking it back up. I believe you get overly tired from not sleeping and fighting sleep. I had hoped you'd be crawling by now and that it would help wear you out more for nap times but you still won't move your arms to crawl yet. Daddy keeps saying you're just gonna skip crawling and go straight to walking and I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. We shall see. Some fun milestones this month have been: you just started clapping your hands, you can say "mama" and "dada" (but your first word was "mama"! Yay!), and you give mommy kisses on my jaw which I absolutely adore! Despite your not feeling well and more moody times you are still my little sweet guy! You love when daddy comes home from work when mommy reads to you and sister and playing with Lacey Belle. Your favorite is when sissy bounces on the bed/couch--you just giggle and giggle at her. You made your first face while trying new food: raspberries. You made such a sour face at them--which was way too cute--but you liked them and kept eating with many more faces along the way lol. So far you like everything you've tried. You have also taken up biting randomly (usually on my shoulder) which is not fun lol. We made your 2nd road trip to VA this month too and celebrated your 1st Easter! You are currently back to wanting to sleep in the bed next to me thanks to that trip and getting sick while we were up there. It's hard for me to get a good night's sleep but I know this won't last forever and once you're feeling better it's going to pack n play sleep training for you so, for now, I'll take all the baby cuddles I can. You usually prefer to be moving then snuggling these days as it is. I hope you start crawling/moving around more and kick this sickness soon. Daddy, me, and sissy love you! Happy 8 months of life my little sweetheart!
Love,
Mommy
