Baby Humble #3: 3rd Trimester

My 3rd trimester has been a busy blur. I've been trying to get all the things done and prepped for Baby's arrival by taking advantage of all the last bits of energy I have. Before long, the exhaustion set in again. We're all so excited and ready to meet our little tie-breaker baby!

28 weeks - Baby is the size of a milkshake. We're officially in the 3rd trimester! It still feels a bit surreal. This pregnancy has continued to feel like it's just flying by, and my due date is already less than 3 months away! I'm starting to get some back pain when standing or sitting for a long time. So I am now wearing my belly band regularly, and it helps. We took a mini family vacation for a long weekend to the mountains. We were busy going to events, but also found time to relax a bit and have some pool time. I've been feeling a little more tired lately and have been slacking on my yoga again, but I have been staying plenty active with my other kids and our daily activities. I'm pretty much completely in maternity clothes now and finding it harder to get comfortable at night. I've also noticed some minor swelling off and on in my feet and hands. I'm still working on baby projects and have sewn Baby's personalized taggy blanket and got fabric to make my other projects. Hoping I can get my whole to-do list done before Baby comes!

30 weeks - Baby is the size of a cucumber. Only 10 more weeks to go! We took a road trip to Virginia to visit family and celebrate the life of my Grandpa. We spent extra time up there as it will probably be our last trip before Baby arrives. This past week I started having some Braxton Hicks contractions randomly. This isn't new to me as I started having them at 30 weeks my last pregnancy, and my doctor isn't concerned as long as they stay painless. I had my doctor's appointment and a 1-hour diabetes test yesterday, and we passed! All looks good, and Baby's heartbeat was mid-140s. My appointments are now moving up to every two weeks. I am feeling stronger and more frequent Baby kicks and movements. A lot feel more like squirming and wiggling around. I can also see the movements through my belly. The doctor wants me to start kick counting now. I get out of breath easily now and have started getting a little more tired. I'm getting back into my yoga this week and working hard to finish Baby projects. I got a pregnancy pillow and am already loving it! We're still brainstorming baby name ideas and trying to get in as many fun family activities as we can while the weather is nice and before I get too tired to do anything.

32 weeks - Baby is the size of a bucket of popcorn. I've been a mix of being more tired again and also still nesting and wanting to get a lot done. I am almost done with my sewing projects and have made: a Baby's car seat cover,  boppy covers, a Christmas blanket, and receiving blankets. I finalized Baby's coming home outfit...now just to get/make. I'm about to start my next baby project of cleaning and organizing all the other baby items and clothes. Took maternity photos and love how they came out! It's a tradition I always do them at 30 weeks and can't wait to compare to my previous pregnancies. I did my epidural consultation. My hospital has you do one ahead of birth. I'm always afraid Baby will come early and I'll run out of time, so I make sure to get it done early so I'm not out of luck. Over the weekend I had a lot of Braxton Hicks contractions and a little cramping but determined it's probably due to the extra walking from attending local festivals the last couple of weekends. I had another doctor's appointment yesterday, and all still looks good. Baby's heart rate was 140s. I'm feeling Baby movements often and my Dr agreed the Braxton Hicks aren't anything to worry about right now. Things are starting to feel real now as I finally feel like I'm in the final stretch. I just started drinking my raspberry leaf tea and trying to prioritize my yoga/exercises to help prep for labor and encourage Baby to move head down. This Baby is a wiggle worm! Whenever I think I might know what position he is in, the movements change again, so I'm not sure if Baby is head down yet or not.

34 weeks - Baby is the size of a box of cookies. Baby is now head down! We did a 3D/4D ultrasound for the whole family to see Baby again. Baby was sleeping with his hands by his face, and his heart rate was 143. Baby has some hair (color tbd) and looks so big and squishy now. The place we went didn't have measuring capabilities, but after seeing how much Baby has grown since the anatomy scan, I'm now a little afraid of how big Baby will be and hoping he comes early just like his older siblings did. My appetite has been lower lately. I'm drinking my tea regularly. I have been in a fizzy water and toast/sandwich phase recently. I get tired out more easily and have been wanting/trying to take a nap most days. I'm up often at night to pee, and I have been having some acid reflux randomly at night. I finished my Baby sewing projects by making cuddly blankets, another boppy cover, a sleeper, and pants + hat for Baby's coming home outfit. Knowing we're nearing the end, my nesting is in major swing and I'm now on to cleaning the whole house and prepping all Baby items in the hopes of getting it all done in time before Baby comes!

36 weeks - Baby is the size of a jumbo bag of chips. Less than a month to go and almost considered full term! My 34-week doctor's appointment was good, and heart rate was 140s. I started deep cleaning the house, preparing all rooms for baby gear, and setting up said gear. Plus lots and lots of laundry and cleaning everything for Baby. We celebrated Halloween dressed up as Juno. And I got Baby's coming home outfit! We're trying to narrow down some Baby name options since it's getting so close, but probably won't decide for sure until the Baby is born (like with our other two kids). At this point, my belly band and pregnancy pillow are my best friends...and my nemesis is my bladder and tiredness. This past week, we had an incident where I wasn't sure if my water was breaking or not...after calling my doctor, trying some things, and monitoring the situation for a couple of hours, we determined it didn't break (thankfully). But it still put me into a little bit of a panic with everything not ready yet. So now the hospital bag is packed, the car seat is ready to go, all newborn Baby clothes are put away, and pretty much everything is done/set up that needs to be up for the Baby. Now, hopefully, I can relax a little bit and rest while we wait for Baby to come. I had my 36-week appointment and collections yesterday. Baby's heart rate was 145. Baby is head down and low. My doctor believes I may be 1cm dilated, but couldn't 100% verify. My appointments will now be every week until Baby decides to make his grand entrance. It's getting real! My daughter came at 39 weeks and my son at 38 weeks. Any guesses when this Baby will arrive?

37 weeks - Tired, but overall good. Everything's the same. Trying to hurry to get things ready in time, and Baby decided to come at 37 weeks!
